About Us

We have had the pleasure of cat companions in our home for nearly 30 years.  We have rescued and adopted “shelter wrecks” for many of these years.  After losing an amazing thirteen Maine Coon mix, Bud, to cancer in 2005, I was looking for another Maine Coon to help fill the enormous hole I had in my heart. In this way, we became interested in Maine Coons.

Since then, it has been our mission to raise well-socialized and healthy Maine Coon kittens. The kittens are raised in our home and treated like members of the family. To ensure the health of our kittens, all adult breeding cats at FatCatFarm have been screened for cardio myopathy with genetic blood tests and cardio ultrasounds. In addition they are routinely screened for Feline Leukemia (FELV) , Feline Immunodefiency (FIV) , and Feline Infectious Peritonitis (FIP).

We keep our kittens for a minimum of 12 weeks to ensure that they are well socialized.  They are also vaccinated with at least two sets of vaccinations and they are checked for internal parasites prior to adoption.

Currently, FatCatFarm has one stud cat and one queen Maine Coon that can used for breeding. To learn more about our cattery, click on the links to the left. If you love cats as much as we do, you will feel at home.

About the Poem

The following is a  poem that a wonderful, loving lady wrote. Karen Cunningham Rose of Nevada, Missouri.  Thank you very much!

In Loving Memory of “Bud”

I knew when I first rescued you

That friend we’d always be;

To nurse you back to better health

Was a privilege for me.

We bonded closely right away

Soul mates forever after;

You brought me love and happiness

Your actions brought me laughter.

Sickness came with you, but still,

Again I’d choose just you,

Because out love kept blossoming

Our love just grew and grew.

But now your cancer stole your love

From me and my heart breaks;

This empty hole I feel within,

You’re gone and my heart aches.

There just aren’t any words at all

To express how much I miss you;

And I long to hold you close,

And softly and gently kiss you.

You’ll always be my special “Bud”

Who blossomed in my heart;

Please wait for me on the other side,

Where forever, we’ll never part.
